The Fire Safe Council is a non-profit organization here in Nevada County California working to help prevent catastrophic wildfire by providing educational opportunities, volunteer activities, resident services and forest fuel reduction programs to County residents. As a non-profit agency, the Fire Safe Council depends upon residents of Nevada County to support these efforts with their expertise, time and resources. Membership in the Fire Safe Council helps support our existing programs and services, and enables the continuing acquisition of the important grants to develop community projects to make Nevada County Firewise and Fire Safe. Individual membership receive priority for timely chipping from the FSC Chipping Program. Business members receive special recognition in FSC communications. Volunteer Your Time and Expertise
As a non-profit agency, the Fire Safe Council can offer you many interesting and helpful ways to contribute to your community. Well trained volunteers provide many of the Councils services, such as Defensible Space Advisory Consultations, Firewise Community development, fire safe educational presentations, office assistance, event development and coordination, and other community focused activities. The Fire Safe Council uses private, tax deductible donations as in-kind resources for the acquisition of State and Federal grants to further many of it's programs ( such as fuel reduction for seniors and handicapped residents, fuel break development, education program development and delivery, etc.) Your contributions help make these programs possible.
