Community Green Waste Drops
Currently there is no funding for the Green Waste Drops program.
Other ways to handle your green waste:
- The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County's Chipping Program.
- The Bagster Dumpster in a Bag from Waste Management.
- Waste Mangement's Green Waste Cart.
The Community Green Waste Drop program provides a solution to dispose of vegetation that is closer to home than the McCourtney Road Transfer Station (MRTS).Community Green Waste Drop sites are secured where we can find local volunteers to assist in monitoring the site to ensure that garbage is not left and that survey information is obtained for our funding sources.
Advertisements, local signage and homeowners’ newsletter are used to promote the sites. Local volunteers monitor the sites and collect survey information for us to calculate local match from landowner’s labor in clearing the vegetation from their property.
A cut off date is set and the contractor grinds the material and transports it off site to a regional cogeneration facility.
