Don Wagner


Chief Wagner began his long career in firefighting as a volunteer with the Wilton Fire District in Sacramento County in 1986. Continuing his passion for helping others, he joined the Penn Valley Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic in March of 1996, and with hard work and dedication, he worked his way through the ranks to the distinguished position of Fire Chief, which he has held since 2014. Don represents the Nevada County Fire Chiefs Association on the Fire Safe Council Board of Directors, bringing valuable insight and expertise to the group. He teaches upper level incident command courses, as well as hazardous materials courses, through Penn Valley and through the Nevada County Training Officers. Chief Wagner is a native of California, and he and his wife of thirty years have four children and three grandchildren. When he isn’t busy with family or work, he tends his gardens and three acres of property.
