Hazard Mitigation Grant

This home hardening retrofit project will reduce or prevent widespread catastrophic damage resulting from wildfire, by funding home hardening retrofits for qualified residents with preference allowed for those with Access and Functional Needs. 


The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County is a sub recipient of FEMA's home hardening retrofit grant. This award is for Phase One and will total $234,000. The Phase One timeline is July 12, 2024-July 12, 2025. 


The scope of work for Phase One includes: The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County, conducting a public service campaign, and seeking 150 qualified residents. The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County will review and approve eligible home hardening improvement plans developed by and with each applicant. 


The application process for individual residents is still under review and will be released as soon as possible.
